O'Mara Named NESCAC Defensive Player of the Week

HADLEY, MA - Defensive back Dan O'Mara '12 has been selected as the NESCAC Football Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending November 5, 2011. This is the second week in a row a Williams' player has been chosen for the defensive honor.

For the third game in a row, O'Mara intercepted a pass, resulting in a 19-17 victory for the Ephs at Wesleyan. This interception stopped the Cardinals on their final drive, sealing Williams' fourth consecutive win. O'Mara recorded 11 tackles that day, five of them solo, and a pass break-up.

During the 2011 season, O'Mara has racked up a conference leading four interceptions, returning them for 135 yards. He has also registered a total of 46 tackles (34 solo), two pass break-ups, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

Last season he was named to the All-NESCAC Defensive First-Team list along with a NESCAC Defensive Player of the Week award.

Williams next hosts the undefeated Amherst College Lord Jeffs on Weston Field November 12 for the 126th meeting of "The Biggest Little Game in America" held every year. Kickoff is set for 12:00 P.M.
