WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – Williams College junior forward James Heskett (Cincinnati, OH) was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Northeast DIII First Team in a vote by the region's coaches it was announced today.
As an All-Region First Team honoree Heskett will be on the ballot for All-America consideration when that team is announced on March 15.
When the Ephs lost standout forward Kyle Scadlock to injury in the seventh game of the season Heskett was there to lead Williams in scoring, posting a NESCAC and career best 19.3 points a game. "I continue to simply be proud of James," noted Eph head coach Kevin App. "His consistency and leadership this season established himself as an impact player and was a major reason for our team's success"
This season Heskett became the 20th Eph to score over 500 points in a season and his total of 560 this winter is seventh best all-time at Williams.
He scored more points in his junior season than he did in his first two years combined, helping the Ephs win the NESCAC title, advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and post a season mark of 23-6.
On the season Heskett connected on 49.5% (185-374) of his field goal attempts, 41.8% (89-213) of his three pointers, and drained 80.2% (101-121) of his free throws, while adding 3.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists per contest.
This season Heskett started all 29 games and averaged 28.4 minutes a game.
