BOSTON, MA -- The Williams Ephs (5-4-0, 4-2-0 NESCAC) were defeated by the Adrian College Bulldogs (9-4-0, 7-1-0 MIAA) 4-0 in the 53rd Annual Codfish Bowl consolation game this afternoon.

In net for the Ephs this afternoon was senior Stephen Morrissey. In the opposing crease was senior Dillon Kelley, Kelley earning a shutout in this afternoon's contest.

The sole goal of the first period was scored right at the period's close. At 19:28, Bulldog junior Bryan Yim (fourth goal) was able to sneak one past Morrissey to give his team the lead headed into the locker rooms. Yim was assisted on the play by freshman Dean Hewines (first assist).

The Bulldogs added two goals to their lead in the second period. The first came at 14:00, and was cashed in by senior Kyle Brothers (fourth goal). Brothers was assisted on the play by sophomore Matt McNair (ninth assist). This brought the score to 2-0.

The second goal of the period came at 16:28. Junior Trevor Boyd fired one off for his fifth of the season, and sophomore Dino Balsamo was awarded his sixth assist of the season. This brought the score to 3-0, and rounded out scoring for the second period.

At 17:06, Eph sophomore Max Fuld was given a game misconduct, and freshman Jack McCool was given a ten minute misconduct. For the Bulldogs, senior Mathew Thompson was given a ten minute misconduct.

At the period's close (20:00), coincidental slashing minors were called for junior Trevor Boyd for Adrian, and freshman Bobby Beniers for Williams.

At 19:06 of the third, Adrian solidified the victory with an empty netter after Morrissey was pulled for the extra man at 18:44. The goal came from Trevor Boyd, the game coming to its final score of 4-0.

At the end of the game, Adrian's Cory Dunn was given a ten minute misconduct penalty.

The game ended with a score of 4-0, shot count 34-28 for the Bulldogs. Stephen Morrissey made 30 saves on the game, and opposing goaltender Dillon Kelley earned a shutout with 28 saves.

The Bulldogs next face Trinity on the road on January 2nd, at 7:30 PM EST.

"Take away the scoreboard today, and we improved on a lot of areas we felt we needed to be better at from yesterday" noted Eph head coach Mike Monti.

The Ephs next face Trinity at home, January 6th. Puck drop will occur at 7:00 PM EST.

"All in all, there was some progress," stated Monti. "We have a week to prepare and be equipped for Trinity and Wesleyan."

Eph junior forward Rberto Cellini was named to the 53rd Codfish Tourney All-Tournament team.
