Waterville, ME- The Williams College Ephs (7-5/4-4 NESCAC) defeated the Colby College Mules (2-9/1-6 NESCAC) 16-10 in today's matchup on Seaverns Field on the campus of Colby College.
Winning the first face-off of the game, Colby took control of the game by netting the first goal by Don Vivian in the first four minuets. Williams soon answered back with a goal by Kevin Stump assisted by Dutch Buckley. The Ephs quickly scored once more from Max Stukalin assisted once more by Thomas Fowler. The Mules tied the game 2-2 with five minuets from a goal by Lane Kadish. Then suddenly the Ephs caught a wind that seemed to sick with them the rest of the game. Williams went on a four goal streak, seeing goals from Brendan Hoffman scoring one and Michael Fahey scoring three in a row. This gave the Ephs with the four point lead going into the second quarter.
The Mules didn't let this momentum be continued in the next quarter and soon found the ball in the back of the net by Don Vivian with his second goal of the game. Williams quickly recovered and Kevin stump scored his second for the Ephs. Within the next ten seconds, Colby answered back with a goal from Colton Michel. Williams re-gained its momentum with 7:41 in the second which seemed to carry well into the third quarter with a five goal streak. Four of these goals were scored in the first half of the game from Thomas Fowler, Kevin Stump, James McFarland and John Hinks. This gave the Ephs the upper hand going into the second half with a score of 11-4.
Williams came out of halftime with the same mentality as the first two quarters and netted a goal by captain Michael Fahey. This five goal streak was broken with 11:42 left in the third quarter by Colby's Tucker Dietrick. The Ephs soon took control of the game once more scoring back-to-back goals by Kevin Stump and Brendan Hoffman. Within the last three minuets of the third, Colby and Williams exchanged goals from Kevin Seiler for the Mules and Thomas Fowler for Williams. Colby then went on a four goal streak that led them into the fourth quarter, seeing goals from Austin Sayre and CJ Hassan in the third. The score at the end of the third quarter was Williams up 15-8.
The Mules added to their four goal streak into the final quarter of the game with goals by CJ Hassan and Colton Michel, both assisted by Austin Sayre. The final goal of the game was shot by Michael Fahey, giving the Ephs a 16-10 victory over the Mules.
The Mules were lead by Don Vivian, CJ Hassan and Colton Michel all with two goals each. The Ephs were led by captain Michael Fahey with a whopping five goals and two assists followed by Kevin Stump with four goals.
The goalie for the Williams Ephs was Goerge Peele playing all 60 minuets with 17 saves. The Mules saw goalie C.J. Layton play all 60 minuets with 16 saves.
The Ephs return to action this coming Tuesday home on Farley-Lamb Field for a matchup at 6pm against RPI. The Colby Mules will next play on Tuesday also when they host Bowdoin College at 7pm.
