HADLEY, MA – Two members of Dan Greenberg's Williams men's tennis team (15-6) that is off to Middlebury this weekend to play Skidmore in an NCAA Second Round match on Saturday have been accorded All-NESCAC honors.
Williams is the defending NCAA Division III champion, but this year the Ephs have had to replace four significant players lost last June to graduation.
Senior Matt Micheli (San Francisco, CA) earned First Team honors in singles play and Second Team honors in doubles, while freshman Conrad Harron (Chicago, IL) earned Second Team honors in both singles and doubles. Micheli and Harron form the Ephs' top doubles tandem.
"NESCAC is such a tough league it means a lot for Matt and Conrad to be named all-conference," said Eph head coach Dan Greenberg. "Additionally, Matt has been a great example for Conrad this year, so it's cool they can share this honor."
Micheli posted a record of 11-9 at the top position for the Ephs. After Williams returned from its spring break trip, he won eight of his next nine matches. Micheli completes his career as a four-year All-NESCAC honoree as he was chosen First Team singles and Second Team doubles in 2013, Second Team doubles in 2012 and Second Team singles and doubles in 2011. Micheli was selected as both a singles and doubles alternate for the NCAA Championships.
Harron, who plays at two singles and with Micheli at one doubles, has authored an impressive first season on the intercollegiate scene.
