Dick Farley and Pete Farwell to Team Up Again During Williams Track & Field Transition
WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – With departure of head men's and women's track & field coach Fletcher Brooks who is moving on to the University of Oklahoma next week, the Williams College track & field teams will be led by coaches Dick Farley and Pete Farwell.
Farley and Farwell also teamed up to guide the Eph teams through a previous transition in 2008 when Ralph White left Williams for another opportunity.
"Pete and I are ready and willing to do whatever the College needed to keep the track & field programs running smoothly, " Farley said.
"While Fletcher will certainly be missed, I count myself, and the Williams College Track and Field teams, as lucky to have two such able and experienced track and field coaches on staff," said Williams Athletic Director Lisa Melendy. "I am extremely thankful for both coaches Farwell and Farley and their willingness to jump in to help the College and the department. They are not only highly qualified, but passionate about Williams track and field and the athletes who compete for Williams."
"As much as we are going to miss coach Brooks for his leadership and event coaching capabilities, we have a great staff returning, as well as dedicated, enthusiastic and talented athletes who are looking forward to having a great team again as is the Williams tradition," noted Farwell.

Both Farley and Farwell have extensive head coaching experience in track & field as well as numerous years of assisting both teams.
"I'm known primarily around here as a former football coach, but quite frankly track & field is the reason I've been here for 40 years," said Farley. Head coach of the Eph men's and women's track & field teams from 1973-87, Farley has also served as an outdoor track & field assistant since 1987.
Farwell, who currently serves as the Ephs' head coach of men's and women's cross country, previously served as the head coach of Williams men's and women's track & field from 1988-2001, as well as in 2008. When not serving as the head coach Farwell was an assistant coach.
Farley will be working with assistant coach Howard Powell coaching events less than 800 meters as well as the multi-events; decathlon and pentathlon. Farwell will remain in charge of the Eph distance runners and will be aided by assistant coach Lance Harden.
Assistant coach Melissa Daly '03 will continue to coach the Eph men and women jumpers, while assistant coach Keelin Godsey will work with the Eph throwers.
