HADLEY, MA — Williams College sophomore Mackenzie Murphy (Diablo, CA) and first year Rebecca Duncan (Simi Valley, CA) were selected as New England Small College Athletic Conference Co-Player of the Week and NESCAC Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for play ending Sunday, April 30.

In four games, Murphy batted 6-for-13 (.462), with one double and one home run, knocked in four runs and scoring once. Her three-run home run was the difference in a 3-1 win at Middlebury that clinched the NESCAC West title for the Ephs. She also went 1-0 with a save from the circle with a 1.00 ERA.

Duncan was 2-0 with one save over three appearances last week with a 1.00 ERA. In 14 innings she gave up only 10 hits and did not walk a batter while striking out 18. In a 3-1 win over Middlebury that clinched the West Division title for the Ephs, she faced a bases loaded, no-out situation in the bottom of the sixth and used two strikeouts and a groundout to end the threat.

Next up for Williams (28-10) is the first round of the 2017 NESCAC Tournament at Bowdoin College. Friday, the Ephs tangle with Trinity. Game time is scheduled for 5 p.m.
