WORCESTER, MA – The Williams College women's crew team came within a half a second of defeating the top-ranked Bates V1 boat racing on Lake Quinsigamond in the National Intercollegiate Rowing Championships (NIRC) Grand Final.
With the win Bates earned the NESCAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Rowing Championships May 26-28 in West Windsor, N.J. The Ephs will have to wait until Monday, May15 at 7:00 p.m. to watch the NCAA DIII Rowing Selection Show online to see if they will be awarded an at-large berth in the Championships.

In the V2 race the Ephs also finished second to Bates. The Ephs were timed in 6:47.982, while Bates crossed the finish line in a time of 6:41.340.
The Ephs did claim a victory in the V3 race where they edged Bates by just over two tents of a second. The Williams V3 boat posted a winning time of 6.53.099, which was just .264 ahead of Bates' time of 6:53.363.
