Four Ephs named All-Region by IWLCA

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA — The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association has placed four members of the Williams College team on its All-Berkshire Region squads, including senior Rebecca McGovern and junior Bridget Malicki, both of who garneed First Team All-Region honors. 

In addition, senior defender Grace Wilson and junior attack Nancy Palmer earned Second Team All-Region honors from the IWCLA.

The 14-4 Ephs will head to Cortland, N.Y. this weekend to take on Colby in the third round of the 2014 Div. III NCAA Tournament. The Ephs had a bye in the first round and defeated Wheaton (Ma) College, 9-6, in the second round. 

McGovern was previously announced as a First Team All-NESCAC selection from the midfield. She leads the Ephs with 35 goals this season and is second in assists (13) and points (38). McGovern is 12 of 28 on free-position attempts this sesason. She also leads the team in groundballs (41), draw controls (52) and caused turnovers (28). 

Junior attacker Malicki was named All-Berkshire First Team. She leads the Ephs in total points this season with 55, with 28 goals and a team-leading 27 assists. Senior defender Wilson is second on the team with 19 caused turnovers and sixth on the squad with 17 groundballs. Junior attack Palmer is third on the team with 23 goals and has 25 points (2 assists).
