Lasell Gym: They don't make them like they used to
A scant 83 years after the first renovation to the floor in Lasell Gym, one of the nation’s oldest collegiate gymnasiums still in use for varsity competition will have a total floor replacement beginning Aug. 9th. It’s expected to take about a month to replace the floor, but there’s no way to replace its memories and history.

Hasenfus named new wrestling coach
WILLIAMSTOWN, MA — Rich Hasenfus has been named the head coach of wrestling at Williams College, it was announced today by Williams Director of Athletics Harry Sheehy. Hasenfus has spent the past 18 years coaching collegiate wrestling, the last 13 at Norwich University.

Two-time All-American Ryan Malo extended his success internationally compiling a record of 7-1 in Siberia competing for the National Wrestling Coaches Association All Star Team and the US.

4 Ephs Earn Scholar All-American Honors/Team Wins 3rd National Academic Award
Capping off another successful season on the mat the Eph wrestling team had four members repeat as Scholar All-Americans and the team won its third national academic award at the NCAA Championships.

Ryan Malo finishes 2nd at 197 at NCAA Championships; Ephs 23rd
For the second consecutive year Ryan Malo finished second at the the NCAA Championships (197). He is the first Eph wrestler to finish second in consecutive years and is the highest any Eph has ever finished.

Williams junior Ryan Malo’s 38th straight win of the season versus Division 3 competition has put him in the finals of the 197 lb. weight class at the NCAA Division 3 Championships for the second straight year.

Ephs Repeat as NEWA Champions, Ryan Malo Named Co-Outstanding Wrestler of the Year
SPRINGFIELD, MA- On the final day of competition the Williams College wrestling team successfully defended their NEWA Conference championship. Their 128.5 points gave them a healthy margin of victory over runner-up Springfield (100.5) and both Wesleyan and Johnson & Wales who tied for third place with 95 points.

Eph Grapplers Compete at NEWA Championships: Day 1
SPRINGFIELD, MA- This weekend the Williams wrestling team, ranked first in New England and 11th nationally is competing in the NEWA championship. The Ephs are seeking to repeat as NEWA champion and secure the third championship in school history. On the line are ten automatic bids to the NCAA Division III tournament as well as a number of wildcard berths.

Ephs Sweep Oneonta Quad, Secure First 20 Win Season in School History
ONEONTA, NY- Saturday the Williams College wrestling team traveled to Oneonta State to compete in their final meet of the season facing rival Wesleyan as well as Oneonta State and Lycoming. The Eph grapplers were sharp all day and scored three decisive victories.

3-Time All-American Tommy Prairie '05 named to NEWA Hall of Fame
The first three-time All-American in Williams wrestling history, Tommy Prairie '05, has been named to the NEWA Hall of Fame. Prairie currently serves as the head coach of wrestling at Plymouth State University.

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA- This past week the Eph grapplers secured their first twenty win season in school history. The NEWA coaches rewarded them with the number one ranking in New England, a distinction they have maintained all season.

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA- The Williams wrestling team was once again unanimously named the top team in New England. This past week the Ephs went 3-0 at the Metro NY/NE Duals defeating 11th ranked TCNJ, Hunter College, and NYU.

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA- The Eph grapplers maintained a firm grip on the top spot in the New England rankings. This week the Ephs dominated the NEWA Team Duals, winning all three of their matches by wide margins.

SPRINGFIELD, MA- The Williams wrestling team, ranked 18th nationally and first in New England, was awarded the top seed at this weekends NEWA Dual Meet Tournament. The tournament brings together the top wrestling teams in New England and figures to be an tough test for the Ephs.

SPRINGFIELD, MA- The 18th ranked Ephs traveled to Springfield College for a mid-week match against the 28th ranked Pride. The Ephs, without five of their starting grapplers, still managed to pull out a crucial in-conference victory.

Ephs Sweep Plymouth State Quad, Malo Breaks School Record for Pins
PLYMOUTH, NH- The Eph grapplers travelled to Plymouth State College to compete in a quad meet against Plymouth State (ranked 7th in New England), Bridgewater State (ranked 8th in New England), Norwich, and MIT’s club team. The Ephs dominated the day, winning all four of their matches decisively. As a team Williams lost only six of the forty they wrestled on the day.

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA- An undermanned Williams College team, without star wrestlers Dylan Rittenburg, Corey Paulish, and Nate Shippee fell to a determined American International squad, 21-18. The match was tied going into the final bout which AIC narrowly won.

Ephs Still Ranked 1st in New England, Carl Breitenstein Named Wrestler of the Week
WILLIAMSTOWN, MA- In the first poll of the new year the Eph grapplers were, for the 6th poll in the row, ranked 1st in New England. The Ephs received eleven out of thirteen first place votes and lead second ranked Johnson & Wales by thirteen points.

Ephs Wrestle at National Duals UPDATED
CEDAR FALLS, IOWA- The Eph grapplers traveled to the University of Northern Iowa to compete in the National Duels. The National Duels is a team tournament that pits the best teams in the country against each other. The Ephs were one of 16 Division III teams in the country who were invited to wrestle in this prestigious tournament.

Wrestling Hosts Williams Invitational
WILLIAMSTOWN, MA- The Williams Invitational featured eight of the top Division III wrestling teams in the country. In attendance were wrestlers from Williams College, Simpson College, the University of Southern Maine, Rodger Williams, Bridgewater State, Plymouth State, Norwich, and American International College.

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA- The Ephs dominated their home opener earning against the University of Southern Maine and Simpson College. USM and Simpson College are traditionally two of the top teams in the country, making today’s match a clash of three of the top teams in Division III.

Ephs Wrestle at Midlands and Wilkes Open
WILKES-BARRE, PA- Competing in the “Rose Bowl of wrestling” the Ephs faced a field comprised mainly of Division I wrestlers. The undermanned Ephs, lacking both Ryan Malo and Carl Breitenstein who are wrestling at the Midlands Open, were undaunted by the challenge and managed to put together a strong team effort.

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA- For the third straight week at least seven Eph grapplers were ranked in New England as eight are ranked this time. Seniors Carl Breitenstein and Dylan Rittenburg as well as Junior Ryan Malo remain the top ranked wrestlers in their respective weight classes.
