After a long voyage down to Princeton, NJ, the Williams team was prepared to fight hard against a very strong team. Our collective goal was to keep our opponents on court for as long as possible. After a thorough warm-up, numbers 9, 6, 3 began to play. Melissa Swann came out strong, rallying in long points against her Princeton opponent, but eventually lost in a 3 gamer. Sarah Willwerth pushed her opponent as well, having some very close games, but also lost in 3. Julia Ward, on the exhibition court, faced a difficult opponent and played long rallies but lost due to her opponents offensive play and capitalization on any mistake.  During the next round, Anna Nicholson, at number 8 played a weak first game but eventually recovered her length in order to lengthen the points, though she lost in 3 as well.  Co-Captain Ananya Mahalingam-Dhingra, number 5, had a good match with close, long rallies. Co-Captain Hayley Parsons at 2 got many points off of her opponent by keeping the ball tight and keeping the ball out of the middle. In the final round, Abby Leblanc, playing 7, and Esther Baek, playing 4, both battled their Princeton opponents, having incredibly close games and really pushing themselves and their opponents. While both eventually lost in 3, they spent a long time on court establishing length and even using incorporating more offensive aspects of their games.  Co-Captain Nicole Friedman also played hard but fell to an incredibly strong opponent.

Co-Captain Ananya Mahalingham-Dhingra says about this match: "The girls all played impressively well today against one of our toughest opponents of the season. Despite a long day of travelling and difficult courts, everyone fought hard and the amount of training we have been doing over the past few weeks showed today. We hope to continue the momentum of our training's intensity into tomorrow for our big match against Drexel."

The Williams Squash Ephs will be playing Drexel at 10 am and Penn at 3 pm at their respective facilities.
