CAMBRIDGE, MA— Ariana Ross '17 represented the Williams women's swimming and diving team at the NCAA DIII Northeast-North Regional Diving Championships this afternoon at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Ross was part of a field of 27 divers today.
Tonight's event was the 1-meter board, and Ross went in determined to stay consistent throughout the afternoon. Ross placed second overall with a total score of 463.10, which should secure her a berth in the NCAA DIII championships in March.
Ross commented that she was happy to have met her goal of consistency. While certainly pleased with the performance, diving coach Kit Koch is excited to see what is in store for Ross for the rest of the meet, and at the NCAA Championships. "Ari did a great job and we know she can do even better," said Koch. "This was a very competitive group. She is poised to excel at NCAAs."
The 3-meter competition will begin Saturday afternoon at 12:00 p.m. EST. The past two seasons Ross has earned All-America honors on the 3-meter board.
