CLAREMONT, CA -- While it might be hard to believe the truth is it took longer to get reserved transportation from Avis at LAX than it did to bus from Lansing Chapman Rink to Albany Airport. Bus = 1 hour, 15 minutes, Avis 2 hours.
Although a 12-passenger van had been reserved in advance, Avis at LAX was unable to provide one and eventually after much searching came up with two 7-passenger vehicles to get the Ephs on the road to Claremont, California.
Eph head coach Anik Cepeda had opted for a 7:00PM – 8:30 PM practice, wanting to get the Ephs used to playing under the lights as they will play on Monday at 6:00 PM versus arch rival Amherst in a match slated to begin at 6:00 PM PST. The start time of that match is fluid based on the matches earlier in the day on the courts the Ephs will use.
The DIII men's NCAA Quarterfinals are also being played on the same courts at the Bizantz Family Tennis Center at Claremont Mudd Scripps. The Williams men will play Monday at 12:00 PM PST.
