Brunswick, ME –– The Ephs (5-7, 1-3 in NESCAC) traveled to Maine for a Friday night away game against Bowdoin (6-6, 3-1 in NESCAC). The starters for the Ephs were Ally Ostrow, Alex Newton, Natalie Albright, Erin Denham, Tess Richman, Roxi Corbei, and libero Daiana Takashima. The first set began with Williams and Bowdoin neck-and-neck with a kill from Ostrow down 4-3. Bowdoin took an early lead up 14-9 after multiple kills. The Ephs pushed back with kills by Ostrow and Denham down by two at 17-15. However, Bowdoin maintained their lead and pushed ahead. Denham got an ace down by five at 22-17. Bowdoin won the first set 25-18.
The Ephs came out strong in the second set and took an early lead with multiple kills from Denham put the Ephs up 8-5. Bowdoin pushed back to take the lead up 11-8 after strong offensive sequences. Ostrow got a kill down by two at 11-9. Tess Richman got a kill to narrow the gap to one at 12-11. Up by one at 17-16, Albright got a kill with an assist from Newton. Tied at 19-19, Ostrow got a kill. However, Bowdoin went on a run to get to match point at 24-21. Despite a kill from Tess Richman at 24-22, Bowdoin took home the second set with a strong block 25-22.
Bowdoin went on a run early in the third set up 6-0. Denham got a kill to break the streak with an assist from Newton at 6-1. Corbeil had a strong block with the Ephs down 7-3. Corbeil got a kill at 9-4 as the Ephs hoped to narrow the deficit. Bowdoin went on a long run that the Ephs weren't able to cut short. At 24-9, Mia Weinland got a kill. Bowdoin took the third and final set 25-9. The set scores for the match were 25-18, 25-22, and 25-9.
The Ephs stay on the road this weekend for a Saturday afternoon match against Tufts (8-4, 3-0 in NESCAC).
