Jake Abrahams '14 - From Eph Sports Information to NBC Sports

Current Job Title:  Managing Editor, NHL Content at NBC Sports:  I oversee the editorial efforts for our NHL coverage, a role that includes managing the team of hockey researchers that serve our broadcasts, providing guidance on content planning, and execution on our various platforms, while collaborating with other departments to ensure a cohesive content strategy.

Favorite NBC Sports memory:  Working Super Bowl LII – Patriots vs Eagles in Minnesota – was an incredible experience. Of course, the game was an instant classic…but it was also especially neat for me because our pregame feature story on James Harrison included a question I had asked him during our prep interviews the week prior. So, I had a (very, very small) bit of airtime too!

Graduation year: 2014

Major:  Economics

Sport: Golf

How I got Involved in Eph Sports Info:  I honestly don't remember the first assignment I had for Eph Sports Info. I believe I filled in on a few hockey broadcasts during my freshman year. Ultimately I became the writer for our golf team during my sophomore year, which is also when I started to be a part of the regular rotation on the men's and women's hockey broadcasts in the winter season.

Favorite Eph Sports Info Memory: Without a doubt, the highlight of my career in the Eph Sports Info Department was getting to broadcast the outdoor game that the men's hockey team played against Trinity at Fenway Park in January 2014. Our booth was up behind home plate where the usual MLB booths are, so it really had a "big league" feel to it. Plus, it was a great game - Williams came from behind in the 3rd period to win 4-2! An evening I will never forget.

Fun fact: Jake and NBC's top ice hockey broadcaster Doc Emrick have called the same number of ice hockey games from Fenway Park!

Aaron Pinsky Award:  Jake won the Aaron Pinsky '06 Student Broadcasting Award his junior year.
