Angela Chan '19: From Ephs Sports Info Videographer to Yale Law School

Current Job Title:  J.D. Candidate (2022), Yale Law School

Williams graduation year:  2019

Sport(s) played at Williams:  None

Degree you earned at Williams:  Environmental Studies & Political Science

How you got involved in Eph Sports Information:  At the beginning of freshman year, I saw a Sports Info posting seeking a photographer or videographer – two of my hobbies – so I made myself show up to the 6:30 a.m. meeting in Hopkins Hall on the first day of classes. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made, and the rest is history!

What were your duties in Ephs Sports Information:  I shot and edited video of highlights (mostly for tennis and golf), post-game press conferences, and the Eph Spotlight series, which features short interviews with student athletes and their lives beyond their sports. I'm really proud of the Eph Spotlight series, which was only possible thanks to DQ and Tobi Popoola.

Favorite Eph Sports Information memory:  I have so many! I loved seeing positive reactions to Eph Spotlights, I was almost hit by a golf ball while filming, and I was actually hit by a soccer ball once, but one of my favorites is definitely those times where I helped DQ learn Photoshop and iMovie. He amazed me with every new banner he created.

Fun Fact:  Angela is too kind to mention all of the times she was asked to stop by Sports Information to resolve a technical issue with a homegrown video or Photoshop project and never once did she laugh out loud at DQ's basic questions re: video or Photoshop.
