Box Score

AMHERST, MA – The Williams College women's ice hockey team (1-5-0) was defeated 7-0 by NESCAC and Little Three archrival Amherst College (4-0-2) this evening.

The Ephs held the Lord Jeffs to only one goal in the first period, but Amherst continued to put pressure on the Ephs throughout the game. Despite three Amherst penalties in the first period, the Ephs were unable to capitalize on their power plays.

Amherst came out to score three goals in both the second and third periods, to win by a final score of 7-0. The scoring was evenly spread, as six different Lord Jeffs netted a goal in tonight's game.

The Lord Jeffs were relentless, firing off 38 shots throughout the game. The Ephs were only able to return 18 shots themselves.

Junior Kate Schwed played the first two periods in goal for the Ephs, making 21 saves. Sophomore goaltender Betsy Laurin finished the game out for Williams with 10 saves.

Reflecting on the game, Coach Shannon Bryant said, “Moving on from this, my goal is for us to play smart hockey, compete, and be disciplined. We need to do all three things in order to be successful.”

The Ephs don't play again until January 4th, when they face off against Manhattanville College at St. Anselm's.
