Eph field hockey falls to Connecticut College 2-0

Box Score

New London, CT-- The Connecticut College Camels (2-4) won a 2-0 shut-out victory Saturday afternoon at Silfen Field against the Williams College Ephs (3-3) for their second consecutive win of the season.

Williams College entered the game against Connecticut College with less intensity and consistency in comparison to their previous games of the season. Junior Anne de Saint Phalle (Bronxville, NY) had many good runs on the offensive end, but with senior forward Meighan McGowan (Greenwich, CT) out with an injury, the Ephs had a hard time adjusting. Eph defense tested the Camels throughout the game being led by senior Sarah Burleigh (Darien, Conn.) who has demonstrated consistency throughout the season, but still lacked their usual intensity being outscored 1-0 in the first, and 1-0 in the second period.

Ephs had only 5 penalty corners, to the Camels 11. They also had 4 shots, to Connecticut Colleges 9. Eph sophmore goalie Katrina Tulla (New Canaan, Conn.) played a focused game with 7 saves, in comparison to Connecticut Colleges 2 saves.

Coach Alix Rorke felt that her team “got down early which carried on throughout the game.” Despite, the loss Williams College will move forward to their home matchup Wednesday night against Springfield.
