WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – The Williams College swimming and diving team was defeated by Amherst today, 133-108. The Ephs (2-3) were not able to sustain against a stronger Amherst team.

“Today we got beat by a better team,” said head coach Steve Kuster. “Hats off to Amherst, they were solid across the boards.”

Despite the loss, there were some very good swims for the Ephs. They were able to pick up a win in the 400 yard Medley Relay (3:31.86) due to the hard work of sophomore Worth Macdonald and seniors Tyler Bonewell, Norman Scott, and Timothy Ryan. Sophomore Gary Roberson won the 1000 Yard Freestyle event (9:40.28), while Scott (1:54.20 in the 200 yard butterfly) and Bonewell (2:20.88 in the 200 yard breaststroke) also earned wins of their own. In other events, junior Adam Hollander and senior Thatcher Heumann swam very well.

The Ephs hope to come out stronger against Wesleyan next Saturday at 1PM.
