SCHENECTADY, NY. -- Union College improved
their record to 7-7 after defeating the Ephs (5-7) in
Wednesday's non-conference match-up, 2-0. William's
offense suffered a lack of intensity in the absence of senior
captain Anne de Saint Phalle (Bronxville, NY) who is recovering
from an injury. Despite the loss, the Ephs look to challenge Tufts
Saturday and improve upon their 5-2 NESCAC standing.
Dutchwomen Tyler Willey scored the game-winning goal 21:43 into
the first frame off a deflected shot by teammate Kelsey Powers.
Union preserved their lead for the duration of the first and
doubled it 2:19 into the second period when Isabel Zellweger hit
net. The Ephs saw 9 of their 12 shots of the second period in the
last 6 minutes of the game, but were unable to finish in the
circle. The Dutchmwomen maintained their 2 point advantage for the
remainder of the game tallying 12 penalty corners to
William's 5 and outshooting the Ephs 23-17.
Eph goalie Katrina Tulla (New Canaan, CT) tallied 12 saves
playing the full 70 minutes in the net, while Union goalie Sarah
Rios had 8 saves.
The Ephs play at home this Saturday against Tufts at 1PM.
