NEW LONDON, CT - The Williams College men's
hockey team produced three scores in their season opener and it
proved to be just enough as the Ephs outlasted ECAC-NESCAC opponent
Conn. College 3-2 Friday night.
Matt Mascucci scored 58 seconds into overtime Friday night to
lift the Williams College men's hockey team to a 3-2 victory
against Connecticut College in the season opener for both sides.
Masucci assisted on the tying goal in regulation for the Ephs, who
were able to overcome a 2-1 deficit in the win.
Connor Olvany chipped in with a goal and an assist for the victors
while Evan Dugdale added two assists for the Ephs.
Connecticut College received its goals from freshman Sean Murray
and senior Ryan Howarth, who scored the 31st goal of his career
with two minutes remaining in the second period.
Senior Greg Parker colleced 32 saves on 35 Wiliams shots in
another brilliant performance between the pipes. Williams sophomore
Ryan Purdy was impressive in his own right, stopping 16 Camel shots
in the opening period alone en route to a 32-save effort for the
victors.
Williams heads north to Malden, Mass. for a 3:00 p.m. game against
Tufts University Saturday.
