NEW LONDON, CT -- The Ephwomen begin their weekend on a sour
note, as they dropped another conference match to Connecticut
College this evening by a score of 3-1. Williams (6-14-1) has
fallen to seventh in the conference with a record of 4-8-1, and
have lost their last six games. Conn College (8-10-3),
despite an overall record below .500, is third in the division with
a 6-5-2 conference record, and are winners in six of their last
eight contests.
After a scoreless first period, the Camels struck first within
thirty seconds of the middle frame, as sophomore
forward Abby Hine netted her 4th of the season with help from
senior forward Caroline Jeffery. The game winner would not
come until 6:31 of the final period, when junior forward Erin Davey
put home her team-leading 13th goal this year, assisted by
sophomore defenseman Brigid O'Gormon.
The lone Eph goal game in response to the Davey score, courtesy
of sophomore forward Jaquline Berglass, her 2nd this season.
Senior co-captain defenseman Joey Lye and freshman forward Eliza
Foster picked up assists on the goal. But the Ephs were
unable to tie the score, and with under two minutes to play, junior
forward Rachel Lindmark secured the victory for the Camels with her
7th goal of the season.
The Camels will host second-place Middlebury tomorrow afternoon
at the Dayton Arena before playing first-place undefeated Amherst
next weekend at home on Saturday, then at Amherst on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Williams will look to turn their struggles around and
end their losing streak. Unfortunately, they will have to do
it against a 13-0 Amherst team, who have left little to be desired
this year. The puck will drop at Amherst tomorrow at 3pm.
