Williams senior forward and captain Alex Smigelski (Mountain
Lakes, NJ), has been named the Co-NESCAC Men's Ice Hockey
Player of the Week for his role in the Ephs two wins last week.He
shares the award with Bowdoin goalie Chris Rossi.
Smigelski helped push the current Eph unbeaten streak to seven
when he scored and assisted on two goals in the 4-1 win over St.
Michael's and then followed that up by notching the
game-winner vs. Norwich. Norwich had entered Lansing Chapman Rink
ranked second nationally and as last undefeated team in Division
III (16-0-4).
Smigelski leads NESCAC in goals scored with 16 and he has also
chipped in 8 assists for a season point total of 24.
Williams, ranked second nationally and first in NESCAC
(12-3-3/10-3-3 NESCAC) returns to action tonight (2/9) at
7:00 pm against 9th ranked Middlebury 11-4-4/7-3-4 5th in NESCAC.
Williams will be looking to extend their current unbeaten skein
and Middlebury will be gunning to pick up their fifth win in their
last eight games.
