Mens' Squash Falls to Penn and Trinity

HARTFORD-- The Williams Mens' Squash team had a long Saturday, losing to both Penn and Trinity on the road.

The #10 ranked Ephs took on #9 Penn in what was sure to be a close one, and it lived up to the billing. Missing freshman Kevin Chen due to injury, each player moved up a spot and performed well.

Nick Marks was the first win on the board for the Ephs, winning in a tidy four games at number three. Marks played patient squash and came up with big shots at the right times to earn the win.

Chris Wilkinson was the next Eph to take a match at number five. Wilkinson got off to a hot start, winning the first but then lost the next two. He fought back well, though, taking the fourth and fifth in convincing fasion.

Taylor Foehl was the third and final player to win on the day playing number two. Similar to Wilkinson, he won the first only to lose the second and third. Foehl was able to tire his opponent out, however, and took the fourth and fifth games comfortably.

Nick Greaves-Tunnell and Will Morris each played well and lost in four games. Greaves-Tunnell's was especially close, losing 13-11 and 14-12 in the third and fourth games.

"I'm pleased with the way we played today. Missing Kevin hurt us a little bit, but I told the guys that we could beat them with this line-up, and they showed that we could. Nick, Taylor, and Chris all played very well, and everybody else performed solidly as well. We gave them all they could handle," said coach Zafi Levy.

Williams then got on the bus and drove to Hartford, CT to take on the defending national champions. Despite playing their third match in three states in less than 24 hours, Williams rallied and performed well. Foehl was the only Eph to get a game, but the others gave everything they had left against the quality opponent.

Williams will be back in action after winter break, when they travel to Maine to play Bowdoin, Colby, and Bates.
