HARTFORD-- The Williams Men's Squash team advanced to the NESCAC finals Saturday with wins over Wesleyan and Bates.
The second-seeded Ephs started the day with a quarterfinal match-up against the seventh-seeded Cardinals. Williams was able to get through the match unscathed, with nearly the entire lineup winning 3-0. Will Morris was tested at the number one spot, but was able to pull out a victory.
Third-seeded Bates awaited in the semi finals, and the Ephs geared up for what was sure to be a battle. Williams had beaten Bates 9-0 in early January, but many of the matches were close and Bates has always been a rival.
Williams was able to bear down and get the job done, however, eventually winning 8-1. Nick Marks, Jeremy Herrmann, and Will Gruner all had gritty five game wins. Ryan Eagan played some of his best squash of the season en route to a solid four game victory. The Ephs also received dominating performances from Alec Greaves-Tunnell, Will Morris, and Taylor Foehl to cap off the victory.
The Ephs move on to face top seeded Trinity in the conference finals tomorrow. Match time is set at 1:30.
