NEW HAVEN-- The Williams Men's Squash team has played well through the first two days of the Yale Round Robin.
Williams took on Franklin and Marshall Friday night and fought admirably but lost 7-2. Andy Maruca played rock solid squash at the number six position and was able to win in four games. First year standout Kevin Chen turned in the match of the day, though, at the number three position. Chen won his first game handily and sprang to a large lead in the second but lost. Chen then lost the third game and found himself in a 2-1 hole. He outlasted his opponent, however, taking the fourth and fifth game handily. Taylor Foehl and Julian Drobetsky each turned in solid performances as well. Drobetsky lost 14-12 in the fifth game, and Foehl climbed out of a 2-0 hole only to fall 11-7 in his fifth game.
Williams then took on Connecticut College, and was able to cruise to a 9-0 victory. Nick Marks was the only Eph to drop a game but was able to win in four.
George Washington proved to be a stiffer test in the night cap. Jared Zuckerman had a nice five game win at the number eight position. Nick Marks and Will Morris were the only Ephs to lose. Marks' loss came in three close games, but Morris was able to get a game off of George Washington's talented number one before falling in four.
Williams will conclude its busy weekend tomorrow when they take on Yale University at 2:00.
