Ephs Down Conference Foe Trinity 2-1

Coming off their commanding win two days earlier, the Ephs notched their fourth win of the season, downing conference foe Trinity Friday night at the Williams Rink.  After two non-scoring periods, Williams took control in the final frame and tallied two goals to Trinity's one, finalizing the score at 2-1.

The first period was characterized by strong defensive play, each goalie stopping everything that came their way.  First-year Chloe Billadeau (Chaska, MN) turned away 8 bids while Trinity goalie Alexa Pujol made 5 stops.

The second period proved to be a stalemate as well, neither offense able to penetrate the opposing defensive line.  Despite their 3 man-up opportunities, the Bantam offense could not convert.  The Ephs also failed to capitalize on their one powerplay opportunity.

Heading into the third period, Williams got on the board first with Aimee Dennett's (Highlands Ranch, CO) unassisted goal.  Dennet sent the puck home with just over 5 minutes of play in the final frame.  The Bantam's refused to go away however, quickly retaliating with an equalizer at the 7:49 mark.  Trinity forward Abby Ostrom registered the goal, aided by teammate Lucy Robinson.

The Bantam's failed to keep the momentum however, as Williams answered with their second goal of the night, upping their lead 2-1.  Sophomore Cristina Bravi (Montreal, QC) fired a shot past Pujol, an unassisted tally coming with 10 minutes of play remaining in the contest.  The Williams defense refused to budge in the final 10 minutes of play, sealing the game at 2-1.

Billadeau finished the night with an impressive 21 saves, while Pujol denied 26 Eph shots.

Tonights win improves Williams' record to 4-5 overall (2-1 NESCAC).  The Ephs will look to continue their winning streak tomorrow afternoon when they face the Bantams again.
