BRUNSWICK, ME—Williams Field Hockey (6-9) fell to Bowdoin (13-2) in the NESCAC quarterfinals on Saturday. Bowdoin advances to play Tufts in the semifinals.
Bowdoin came onto the field ready to attack the Ephs. Rachel Kennedy scored off an assist by Katie Riley just 1:34 into the first half. At 26:09 a shot from Bowdoin's Brooke Phinney found the back of the cage to lead the Polar Bears into halftime with a 2-goal advantage over the Ephs. Scoring in the second half was also dominated by Bowdoin as Rachel Kennedy tallied another goal for the Polar Bears at 43:36 off an assist by Cathleen Smith.
Bowdoin led Williams in shots (17-2) and penalty corners (12-4). Eph goalie Ariana Spiliotes (Bethesda, MD) had 9 saves and Jaclyn Porfilio (West Roxbury, MA) recorded a defensive save. Kayla Lessard tallied one save, earning a shut out for Bowdoin.
