NEW YORK, NY—Williams men's swimming and diving took down Fordham 156-140 and narrowing fell to Boston College 154-140 on Saturday. Multiple Ephs turned in strong performances to challenge their Division I opponents.
The Ephs were led by senior captain Paul Dyrkacz. Dyrkacz narrowly earned a first place finish in the 100 breaststroke in a time of 58.24, just over one tenth of a second ahead of the second place finisher. To complete his sweep of the breaststroke events Dykacz put in a powerful performance to finish first the 200 breaststroke (204.83). Dykacz completed his individual winning trifecta by placing first in the 200 IM (153.92). Dyrkacz was followed closely by freshman teammate Knox Young who finished third in a time of 1:56.35.
The Ephs also showed their strength in the freestyle events. Senior Tom Vieth earned a 3rd place finish in the 200 free (1:42.99). Junior Christian Gronbeck turned in an equally stellar performance in the 500 free. Gronbeck finished 2nd in a time of 4:39.72.
Williams teammates David Taylor (53.78) and Alex McCarter (53.96) combined for 3rd and 4th finished in the 100 back. Thad Ricotta turned in strong performances in butterfly, finished 3rd in the 100 (51.82) and 3rd in the 200 (1:56.60). Knox Young finished just one tenth of a second behind Ricotta (1:56.70) to take 4th in the 200 fly.
Building on his strong performance against Union, sophomore diver Rohan Bhatt tallied points for the Ephs in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions. Bhatt finished second in both events.
The Ephs will look to continue their strong season when the take on Connecticut College on December 8th.
