Men's Squash falls in National 'B' Draw Semi-Final

PRINCETON-- The #10 Williams Men's Squash team was upset for the first time in five years on Saturday, losing to fourteenth ranked Columbia 5-4 in the semi-finals of their "B" draw at nationals.

Columbia entered the tournament as the sixth seed in the draw of eight teams, but upset #3 Navy on Friday which set up their showdown with the third seeded Ephs.

Alec Greaves-Tunnell was the first Eph to record a win, but did so only after Andy Maruca and Nick Greaves-Tunnell had lost their matches.

Chris Wilkinson made quick work of his opponent at number eight to even the score at 2-2. Kevin Chen found himself in a 2-0 whole but won the third and fourth game easily to force a fifth. He would lose his deciding game 11-9. Nick Marks was the fourth Eph to lose, playing at number five.

Taylor Foehl and Julian Drobetsky were able to win their matches at four and seven, each in four games to again draw the match even at 4-4.

Will Morris was the final Eph on court but faced a formiddable freshman from India. Morris played some of his best squash of the year but lost in three games.

Williams will play St. Lawrence University in the 3/4 match tomorrow at 9 AM to complete their 2011-2012 season. It will be a rematch of a match played just last weekend in Williamstown, which Williams won 6-3.
