HARTFORD-- The Williams men's squash team won twice Saturday to earn a spot in Sunday's NESCAC final. This will be the sixth consecutive year the Ephs have advanced to the championship match.
The Ephs squared off against tenth seeded Conn College, who beat seventh seeded Colby Friday night to advance to the quarterfinals. The Ephs beat Conn 9-0 earlier in January and it was a similar story Saturday. Williams made it through without losing a match, though numerous Ephs lost games. Taylor Foehl and Nick Marks both needed four games to win, while Jared Zuckerman needed five to take down his opponent.
Playing Middlebury for the second time in three weeks, Williams fended off a strong challenge to win 7-2. Andy Maruca and Julian Drobetsky each lost in four at the number three and six positions, and numerous other Ephs faced serious challenges. Taylor Foehl trailed 2-1 at number four before taking the fourth and fifth games, and Nick Greaves-Tunnell also won in five at number nine.
Williams will play Trinity tomorrow afternoon in the NESCAC final. The two teams have met in the final of all five previous NESCAC Tournaments.
