HARTFORD, CT- Williams field hockey (2-1-0) fell to NESCAC foe Trinity (2-0-0) on Saturday. Trinity outscored the Ephs 3-1, dropping Williams to 1-1 in NESCAC conference play.

Trinity controlled play for the first half. The Bantams got 6 shots off against the Ephs in the first half. Capitalizing on a green card against the Ephs, Trinity's Hadley Duncan scored at 31:32 off an assist by Olivia Tapsall. The Ephs responded less than 4 minutes later with a goal by Abigale Belcrest (Harrison Township, MI) off an assist by Caitlin Conlon (Sudbury, MA) at 45:44. Belcrest led the Williams offense and was responsible for all three of Williams' shots on goal. However, the Trinity defense would not allow another Williams goal.

Trinity led Williams in shots on goal. The Bantams tallied 16 shots to Williams' 4. Eph goalie Ariana Spiliotes (Bethesda, MD) put in a strong effort for all 70 minutes, saving 9 of the 12 Trinity shots on goal.

Coach Alix Barrale noted that the team played "tentatively and a little too cautiously" in the first half, but "refocused and seemed to find more aggression in the second". Barrale adds that the team will "do some fine tuning of their decision making and continue to treat playing with courage and confidence as a priority".

The Ephs next take the field at home against Union College on September 18th at 6:00pm.
