Ephs Top Bowdoin, Conn College

BRUNSWICK-- The Williams men's squash team rebounded from a tough loss yesterday with a pair of 9-0 wins over Bowdoin and Conn College at Bowdoin. 

The Ephs matched up against Bowdoin first, after traveling from Lewiston. Galen Squiers, Kai Graham, and Kevin Chen each picked up solid three game win at numbers 9, 6, and three respectively in the first round of matches on each court. 

Williams faced more adversity in the second round, however. Andy Maruca got off to a 2-0 start but then lost the next two. He would go on to win the fifth game with relative ease. Chris Wilkinson lost his second game at number two, but would go on to win in four. 

Jamie Ruggiero, playing Williamstown native Stephan Danyluk, needed five games to earn his win. Ruggiero lost the first but won the next two. Danyluk forced a fifth game, which Ruggiero took 11-8. 

Immediately following the completion of the Bowdoin match, Williams took to the courts again. John Shuck fell behind his opponent 2-1 at number 8, but would come back to win in five games. The rest of the Ephs squad cruised to three game wins. 

Next up for Williams is Middlebury at home on Saturday, followed by a trip to New York City to play Columbia on Sunday. Both matches have important postseason implications.
