NEW YORK-- The Williams men's squash team suffered a tough 8-1 defeat at the hands of Columbia on Sunday. Williams defeated the Lion's twice last year, each time by the score of 6-3, but a strong recruiting class proved too much for the Ephs to handle.
Ryan Eagan was the lone Eph to register a victory on the day. Playing in the number eight spot, Eagan won his first two games, but would go on to lose the next two. He recovered to take the deciding game 11-5.
Chris Wilkinson lost his first two games but stormed back to take the next two 11-5, 11-1, before falling 11-9 in the fifth game. Andy Maruca lost his first two games, but took the third 11-9, eventually losing in four games. Kai Graham was able to level his match at 1-1 but would go on to lose the next two.
Williams has a busy weekend coming up, with matches against Franklin and Marshall and George Washington at the Yale Round Robin, before heading to Amherst for Little Threes.
