Ephs Fall to Drexel 6-3

The Ephs played the 12th ranked Drexel Dragons today at the Simon Squash Center. The Williams Men knew that it would be a tough match going into it, but played well and fought hard.

The middle court captured two victories for the Ephs, as John Shuck '17 downed his opponent in a long five games, and afterwards, Galen Squiers '16 played outstanding Squash in order to defeat his opponent in three games. 

On the bottom court, Jamie Havran '18 pulled off a thrilling comeback to keep the Ephs hopes alive. Down 2-0 in games and 10-6 in the third, he was able to rally back to take the third and the ensuing two games, evening the match score 3-3.

Unfortunately, in the last round of matches Michael Petrick '16 was forced to retire due to injury after splitting the first two games with his opponent, and Jamie Ruggiero '17 was downed in an intense five game match against a highly ranked opponent, securing the match for Drexel 6-3.

Coach Zafi Levy said about the weekend: "This has been a very challenging week for the team. Yesterday, against Brown we played fantastically to beat a strong Ivy League team. I though we played well against Drexel as well. We still had a great chance winning going into the final round but just came out short. We have to regroup tonight and play better tomorrow to beat Amherst and Wesleyan and capture the Little Three Title."
