Ephs Capture Little Three Title; Beat Amherst and Wesleyan 8-1, 8-1

Middletown, CT – Today the Williams College Men's Squash Team traveled down to Wesleyan University to participate in the Little Three Championships. Both matches were played in the four court system. The Ephs emerged victorious, winning both matches 8-1.

The Ephs started the day against Amherst, and were able to secure all four of the first round matches. Mason Elizondo '18 (#9), John Shuck '17 (#6), Kai Graham '15 (#4), and Kevin Chen '15 (#2) all downed their Amherst opponents.

In the second round of matches, Galen Squiers '16 (#5), Chris Wilkinson '15 (#3), and Jamie Ruggiero '17 (#1) all secured points for the Ephs, giving the Williams Men a 7-0 lead. Unfortunately Varun Sharma '16 (#8) lost in a close five game match, but Jamie Havran '18 (#7) won in four games to give the Ephs the 8-1 victory.

After a five-minute break, the Williams team started their second match against the Wesleyan Cardinals. The entire team was victorious except for Kai Graham, who lost in a marathon five-game match, where the third game went to 22-20.

The Ephs 11-7 will now take tomorrow off, before spending the rest of the week preparing for the NESCAC Championships at Williams beginning on Friday. The NESCAC Championships will be contested Friday through Sunday on the Simon Courts.
