Ephs blank Continentals

Clinton, NY – The Ephs came off a 1-2 finish at the Cornell round robin to defeat the Hamilton Continentals 9-0 at the Little Squash Center, uppinh their record to 2-2. The Ephs only dropped one game in all of their matches, defeating each of their opponents handily.

Top to bottom, the Ephs put in great performances to put away the Continentals. Strong performances from the younger corps of Ephs helped set up the veterans for the final round of matches with the victory in hand.

Jamie Ruggiero '17, John Fitzgerald '19, John Shuck '17, Will Means '20, Carl Shuck '20, Mason Elizando '18, Claude Smith '20, and Neel Jain '19 all looked impressive in their 3-0 wins. Will Ruggiero '19 needed four games to put away his opponent, but looked strong nonetheless. Additionally, the Ephs went undefeated in their exhibition matches, a chance for some of their lower ranked players to get some match experience.

Coach Zafi Levy said, "We played really well against Hamilton. Very strong performance against a strong team. We already look forward to next weekend's matches." Captain Jamie Ruggiero added, "It was great to see everyone maintain their focus and play tough despite 3 hard matches on Friday and Saturday."

First year Claude Smith, who came out of the weekend with an individual 3-1 record, was very happy with the way the weekend went. He said, "I definitely felt some pressure going into my first batch of matches wearing the purple and gold, but I tried to stick to my gameplan and settled right in. I really enjoyed our first road trip and am excited for many more."

The Ephs return to Williamstown for their first home matches on December 3rd and 4th against Drexel, Hobart, and MIT.
