Ephs Fall to #9 Drexel

Williamstown, MA- The Williams men's squash team kicked off a weekend of matches with a loss to Drexel. The 9^th ranked Dragons shut out the 19^th ranked Ephs 9-0. 

In the first round of matches, John Shuck '16 and Ben Eisenberg '19 both lost in four games, each putting on strong performances against difficult opponents. Shuck said of his performance, "I was very pleased with my play today. My hats off to Lucas, a phenomenal player, for putting me under so much pressure." At the six spot, Claude Smith '20 lost in three.

In the second round of matches, Carl Shuck '20, Will Ruggiero '19, and Will Means '20 all fell 3-0 to their Drexel opponents. Each player had trouble matching the pace of their opponents, all of whom were highly ranked European players.

In the final round, both Neel Jain and John Fitzgerald fought hard to pry games away from their opponents. Mason Elizando meanwhile, had difficulty gaining momentum against Michael Thompson, Drexel's captain. Fitzgerald was pleased with his performance in his match against Bransten Ming, who was ranked 30^th in college squash as a freshman. 

Captain Jamie Ruggiero, who was out with an injury, was pleased with the teams performance, saying, "We played some great matches against a very good Drexel team. I think we're definitely headed in the right direction with the toughest part of the season right around the corner."

The Ephs will play again Sunday at 2:30pm against M.I.T. in the teams' first meeting.
