Williams Defeats Amherst in First Round of NESCACs

AMHERST, MA - The men's squash team defeated Amherst this morning in the first round of their weekend at the NESCAC squash championship tournament at Amherst college. The team arrived Friday evening and got a good nights rest to prepare for their heavy weekend.

Playing on the more uncommon five court system, John Fitzgerald '19, Carl Shuck '20, Will Ruggiero '19, Andrew Litvin '18, and Anand Butler '19 were up first at the 2, 4, 6, 8, and 9 spots. John Fitzgerald finished first, dispatching of his opponent in three games, with Will Ruggiero, Carl Shuck to follow in 3 as well. Season junior Andrew Litvin finished next in four while Butler fought in five hard games to finish with a 5-0 lead and seal the victory for the ephs. 

Jamie Ruggiero '17, Will Means '20, John Shuck '17, Mason Elizondo '18 were up next at the 1, 3, 5, and 7 spots. Unfortunately Will Means fell to his athletic opponent in three and Mason Elizondo retired, but both Jamie and John sealed two wins for a 7-2 victory.

The men will play Bates for a spot in the final tonight at 6:30 pm.
