#11 GW Defeats #21 Williams 9-0

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA - It always looked like an uphill battle for the Ephs on Saturday at the Simon Squash Center.

First on court for the Ephs were freshman Wyatt Khosrowshahi (#3), junior Ben Eisenberg (#6), and senior co-captain Jamie Havran (#9). Khosrowshahi and Eisenberg each had tough matches and lost out by 3-0 scorelines. Havran played an excellent match, but was ultimately defeated in a gruelling five game encounter. Following on were sophomores Carl Shuck (#2) and Claude Smith (#5), joined by senior co-captain Mason Elizondo (#8). Smith was defeated in three games. Shuck started strong, winning the first game, but couldn't quite hold on and lost out 3-1. Elizondo, much like his fellow captain Havran, played a five game battle but also couldn't quite pull it out. Closing out the match for the Ephs were junior John Fitzgerald (#1), sophomore David Pincus (#4), and junior Anand Butler (#7). Butler and Pincus were each stymied by a pair of strong GW players and were beaten 3-0. Fitzgerald fought hard but lost out in a tight four game match.

Though disappointed with the defeat, the Ephs look forward to a big match against F&M on Sunday at noon at the Simon Squash Center.
