Ephs Squash Finishes Runner-Up to Trinity College in NESCAC Championship Final

MIDDLEBURY, VT - Men's Squash competed for the NESCAC Championship against Trinity this afternoon at the Bostwick Squash Center. In a rematch from last week, the Ephs competed hard against the Bantams, but were unable to convert a few five game matches. Co-Captain Ben Eisenberg '19 (#9) started the day with a big convincing 3-0 win. Krish Bhavnani '22 (#6) was neck and neck in the first two games, having a game ball in the second before falling in three games. Wyatt Khosrowshahi '21 (#3) played excellent squash, pushing his opponent to five games and was 8-8 in teh fifth game before receiving a couple of unlucky bouces which led to an 11-8 loss in the fifth.

Trailing 2-1 to the Bantams, David Pincus '20 (#8) and Carl Shuck '20 (#2) fell in three contested games. Soon after, Co-Captain John Fitzgerald '19 (#1) lost in three, which gave the Bantams the necessary fifth win to clinch the match. Jacob Bassil '22 (#5) was in a marathon match, marked by a blood timeout, and secured the fourth game 11-9. Bassil looked like he was on the brink of victory but was barely edged 11-9 in the fifth game, giving the Bantams a 6-1 lead. A.J. Solecki '21 (#7) was up 2-0 before his opponent rallied three straight games to win the match. Williams Means '20 (#4) concluded the match after losing 3-0.
