WILLIAMSTOWN, MA - Despite a tough battle, the Williams men (8-4) were ultimately defeated by George Washington University (7-4) by a 7-2 scoreline.
The first round of matches was headlined by senior co-captain Carl Shuck (#3), freshman Udai Pal (#4), and senior David Pincus (#7). Shuck struggled in a tough match, succombing 3-0. Pincus battled, but also fell by a 3-1 scoreline. Pal took a 2-0 lead and looked good, but was pegged back in an eventual five game defeat.
Next on were sophomore Jacob Bassil (#1), senior co-captain Will Means (#5), and freshman Charles "Chas" Merrill (#9). Bassil had a tough match and was beaten 3-0. Means and Merrill were up to the task on the day, however, and delivered a pair of brilliant 3-0 wins.
Last on court were juniors Wyatt Khosrowshahi (#2) and AJ Solecki (#6), joined by senior co-captain Claude Smith (#8). Khosrowshahi fought but couldn't find a rythym and lost 3-0. Solecki's match was closer in scoreline, but he also found himself on the wrong end, this time in five games. Smith was forced to retire with a hamstring injury.
The Ephs look to bounce back in a big match tomorrow vs F&M, at 12pm at the Simon Squash Center.
