WILLIAMSTOWN, MA - The Ephs (4-3) earned a hard fought but convincing victory on Sunday against the Panthers (1-1).
First on court were sophomore Jacob Bassil (#1), joined by senior co-captains Carl Shuck (#4) and Claude Smith (#9). Smith found his groove early and cruised to a 3-0 win. Shuck put in another great shift and added another point in a tough four games. Bassil found himself locked in a monumental battle, and crawled over the finish line in the fifth game in an epic victory.
Following on were senior co-captain Will Means (#2), junior AJ Solecki (#6), and senior David Pincus (#8). Solecki and Pincus each finished in the winners' circle with 3-0 triumphs. Means was unfortunately forced to retire in the fifth game in an otherwise enthralling match.
Last on for the men were junior Wyatt Khosrowshahi (#3), together with freshmen Udai Pal (#5) and Charles "Chas" Merrill (#7). Pal put in yet another strong performance, and was in control until his opponent was forced to retire due to injury. Merrill fell in a tough five games. Khosrowshahi battled to a 3-1 win.
The Ephs head to Maine next weekend for matches against Colby, Bates, and Bowdoin.
