CAMBRIDGE, MA – The Ephs (10-6) fell to MIT on Saturday by an incredibly tight 5-4 scoreline.
Leading the Ephs' charge were sophomore Jacob Bassil (#1), senior co-captain Will Means (#4), and senior David Pincus (#7). Means and Pincus each put in great performances en route to 3-0 wins to give the Ephs a quick 2-0 lead. Bassil found himself locked in a battle, and was eventually beaten in a tightly-contested five game match.
Next on were freshman Udai Pal (#3), senior co-captain Carl Shuck (#5), and freshman Charles "Chas" Merrill (#8). Shuck won 3-1 to add another point to the Williams cause. Pal and Merrill each played out marathon matches, but found themselves on the wrong end, 3-2 and 3-1 respectively, leveling the match at 3-3.
Last on were a trio of juniors Wyatt Khosrowshahi (#2), AJ Solecki (#6), and Tucker van Eck (#9). Solecki and van Eck split results, leaving Khosrowshahi with the deciding match. Despite a big effort from the junior, he was unable to come through, falling in five games and giving the Engineers the victory on the day.
The Ephs look to bounce back with Little Three's at Amherst tomorrow.
