Box Score WILLIAMSTOWN, MA -- The Williams College Ephs ((12-8-4, 8-6-2 NESCAC) faced the Plymouth State Panthers (7-16-2, 5-9-2) tonight at Lansing Chapman Rink. The Ephs were able to establish a lead in the first period and went on to extend this advantage to win the game 5-1.
The first goal of the game was scored at 11:11 into the first when first year Maddie Tix and junior captain Meghan Halloran were able to get a 2 on 1 after getting the puck from first year Paige Galle and Halloran was able to find the net with a backhand.
The Panthers were then able to equalize the score at 17:12 with their own goal. Williams doubled their efforts after this goal, which paid off at 17:38 when first year Kelly McCarthy scored from short range.
The Ephs were then able to extend their lead early in the second period at 2:05 when senior captain Mia Carroll fired into net, assisted by juniors Georgia Keogh and Michaela O'Connor. Carroll was able to pick up her second goal of the game a few minutes later at 9:17 into the second when she carried the puck across the blue line and scored unassisted.
In the third period, the Ephs were able to score one last goal to finalize their victory. At 15:20 sophomore CC Wallin fired it between the legs of Plymouth State's goalie to score the final goal of the game.
By the end of the game, Chloe Heiting had saved 6 of 7 Plymouth State shots while the Panthers saved 37 of 42 Williams shots.
"I thought our captain Mia Carroll really stepped up in the second with the two goals to make it a 4-1 game," said head coach Meghan Gillis, "It will be good to get some rest and practice time heading into the post season."
