PROVIDENCE, RI - In their Tuesday evening encounter, the #16 Williams men (12-8) were beaten 6-3 by the #15 Brown Bears (5-6).
All three of the Ephs' wins came from the midcourt, where the men have been perpetually strong this season. Senior co-captains Will Means (#4) and Carl Shuck (#5) each dropped their first games before roaring back to take the next three, resulting in a pair of four game wins. Junior AJ Solecki also continued his own strong form with a 3-0 win.
The top three struggled on the day against a tough Brown topcourt. Sophomore Jacob Bassil (#1) won his first game, but ran out of steam and succombed to a 3-1 defeat. Junior Wyatt Khosrowshahi (#2) and freshman Udai Pal (#3) each couldn't get into a rhythm and lost 3-0.
The bottom court featured some close matches but unfortunately no points for the cows. Senior David Pincus (#7) put up an incredible fight but was defeated 3-2. Freshman Charles "Chas" Merrill (#8) also battled, winning his first game, but also fell by a 3-1 scoreline. Junior Tucker van Eck (#9) was beaten in straight sets.
The Ephs will have the weekend off before heading to Bowdoin the following weekend for NESCAC Championships.
