WILLIAMSTOWN, MASS. – Four members of
Scott Honecker's 2021-22 Williams wrestling team are ranked in the preseason individual New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) top eight.
The highest ranked Eph heading into the season is junior
David Yeh who is ranked second at 125 pounds.
Senior Joe Rossetti is ranked third at 141 pounds, while junior
Albert Xing and senior
Brendan Kiernan are both ranked 6th. Xing competes at 157 pounds and Kiernan at 165.
"We're 20 months from our last competition and words cannot express how well these guys navigated this pandemic," said Honecker. "They certainly handled the pandemic better than I could've imagined. I hope they have a breakout performance this weekend because they deserve it."
The Eph season opens this Saturday, November 20, when they travel to Springfield College to compete in the annual Doug Parker Invitational.
The Ephs' first home competition will be on January 8 when they host The Williams Invitational.
