Eph Men's Swim and Dive defeat Union College

- Williams Men's Swim and Dive scored their second win of the season today at home against Union College with a final score of 172 to 107.

The team started the meet off strong with a 1-2 finish in the 200 medley relay. Timothy Page '23, Liam Sullivan '23, Oliver Schalet '25, and Quinton Hastings '24 took the top spot with a 1:33.93, just beating out the Williams second place team.

Williams men dominated distance freestyle taking 1st through 3rd in both events. Carter Anderson '25 led  the 1000 in 10:01.38 and Harrison Williams '26 won the 500 in 4:45.52.

The Ephmen also took the top 3 spots in the 100 and 200 freestyle. Alex Atherton '24 finished first in the 200 with a blazing 1:42.96 followed by Gabe Lee '26 and Zach Houlton '24. In the 100, Quinton Hastings beat out teammates Timothy Page and Alex Atherton to take first in a 47.43.

The team continued the trend of placing 1-2-3 in both the 100 backstroke and 200 butterfly. Nick Whitcomb '23 led the field in the 100 back with a 51.62, just ahead of teammates Oliver Schalet '25 and Timothy Page. In a tight race between the top 3, Nathaniel Tunngal won the 200 fly in 1:57.28 just ahead of Harrison Williams and Noah Labich '25. 



Jacob Grover '24 won the 100 breaststroke in an impressive time of 57.48 after a battle for the top spot with teammate Liam Sullivan '23. 

Ev Nichol '23.5 dominated the men's 50 freestyle. He won in 22.15, over a second faster than the next finisher. 

Ephmen's diving further demonstrated the Eph's skill at the pool. Kobe Tray '23 and Ben Shapiro '23 placed first and second on both the 1 meter and 3 meter boards with fantastic scores and great energy in the dive well.

Freshman Gabe Lee won the 200 backstroke in an exciting 1:55.39. Kevin Jiang and Tate Chutkow placed 2nd and 3rd in a tight 200 breaststroke race.

Jacob Grover won the 100 butterfly in another tight race with a 52.05 followed by teammates Ev Nichol, Timothy Page, and Dylan Taylor '25 in 3rd, 4th, and 5th.

In the final individual event of the day, 7 Ephmen raced the 400 IM and placed 1st through 7th. Oliver Schalet took the top spot with an incredible 4:08.17.
The last race of the day was the 200 freestyle relay. The Ephs again placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, demonstrating not only their speed, but also their depth as a team. The team of Gabe Lee, Ev Nichol, Nick Whitcomb, and Quinton Hastings won the event in 1:26.46, the fastest time in the NESCAC thus far this season. 

Following these two recent wins, the Ephs will travel to Middletown, CT next Saturday to race Wesleyan, Tufts, and WPI for the first dual meet the Ephs will compete against another NESCAC team.
