WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – Today the purple cows faced off against number five in the country Trinity in the finals of the NESCAC championship tournament and lost 9-0. Trinity has won the NESCAC championship for the last 16 years, and this was Williams 12
th runner up trophy in recent years. There were some close games up and down the ladder, but overall, Trinity won solidly.
Starting off the first round was
Alex Akbari,
Asher Leavy, and Co-Captain Will Evans who all lost in three games to talented opponents.
Pierce Henderson lost the first, but with some brilliant squash he won the second 11-3. However, his opponent ended up winning the next two games.
Starting off the second round was Charles Merril, who lost 3-0 to a skilled player.
John Nicholson won the first game 13-11, but could not keep up the pressure and lost 3-1.
Jack Lee had a close first game, with a game ball at 10-9 in the but unfortunately lost the first game 12-10 before losing the match 3-0.
Andrew Minnis lost in three, and Co-Captain Udai pal put up a good fight, losing 11-9 in the first and second game but ultimately lost 3-0.
It was a good weekend for the Ephs, with solid victories over Colby and Tufts. They look forward to getting two weeks of training in before nationals.
