WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – Today the Ephs won their semi-final in the NESCAC tournament 6-3. Riding off of their win against Colby yesterday, they were looking to keep up the momentum and put themselves into the finals. Head Coach
Zafi Levy says "I was really pleased with the team's performance today. Our first round of matches was very decisive with 4 wins, which gave the team a lot of confidence against a really strong Tufts team. We are looking forward to play at the final against Trinity and to another strong performance from our boys".
Starting off the first round in the five-court system for Williams was
Alex Akbari, who won his match in a dominant 3-0 fashion.
Pierce Henderson and
Asher Leavy quickly followed suit, with Pierce finding his rhythm and winning 3-0, while Asher dominated the court to win 3-1. Co-Captain Will Evans was on top of his game today, also winning his match 3-0 to set the score 4-0 in Williams's favor at the end of the first round.
Starting off the second round for the Purple Cows was
John Nicholson, who lost 3-0 to a talented opponent.
Cameron Darnell had a long battle today, but he eventually lost in five in a close match.
Jack Lee, however, used his attacking shots and control of the court to win his match and win the overall match as well.
Andrew Minnis faced a skilled player, and unfortunately lost 3-0. And Co-Captain
Udai Pal ended the day with a swift 3-0 win, leaving the final score 6-3 for the Ephs.
It was an overall good performance for the Ephs, and it sets them up for the NESCAC final where they play Trinity, the fifth ranked team in the country.
